What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?
Jesus is coming again for his own. And just preceding his return will be the end time astonishing things, with its signs. The Father has warned us in His Word—so that these days should not come upon us like a snare, like a thief in the night.
For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night…But you brothers, are not in darkness so that day should surprise you like a thief. You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 1 Thess. 5:2,4-6
Those who are of the light will see the signs. When end time events actually start to take shape it will be hard not to see—for it will be happening before our very eyes! God will do a great last days work—with power, and signs, and wonders—the latter rain!
And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out my Spirit in those days; and they shall prophecy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Joel 2:28-32
The two witnesses who prophecy for 1260 days in chapter 11 of the book of Revelation, who are given great power:
To devour their enemies with fire
To shut heaven so it rains not
Power over waters to turn them into blood
And to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire
It is just a manifestation of God’s great outpouring of His Spirit on His menservants and maidservants, His sons and daughters in the last days.
In closing let’s go to Revelation chapter 12
1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. 2 Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. 3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and diadems on his heads. 4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. 5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. 7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satin, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven,”Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you having great wrath, because he knows he has a short time. 13 Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
We come back to the driving force behind it all, the dragon, that old serpent the devil. Will there actually be a battle in the heavenlies that casts the dragon and his angles down to the earth? Setting him off in a great rage of wrath, thus igniting the fires of the last day’s uprising? The devil is a spirit being, but look what sway and pull he has, it says he deceives the whole world! And again in Revelation 13 it is the dragon who empowers the beast and gives him his set and authority over all peoples and nations!
Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil is come down to you having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.
Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.
When the dragon is cast down to earth his immediate focus and furry is on God and his own. The dragon attacking the woman is a simple allegory. Yes, the devil’s center of attention is his pride and hatred against God, but he’s like a puppet master; influencing others to do his devilish deeds. Thus in the last days he will anoint the beast to carry out his all out war against the saints, the holy people.
The male child in the vision of course is Jesus. Who will rule all nations with a rod of iron. The King of kings, and Lord of lords. Who comes out of the nation of Israel. But the woman also represents spiritual Israel, true Israel. All who believe in Jesus are grafted in as Romans 11: 17-26 clearly shows. Her offspring who have the testimony of Jesus Christ, and overcome the dragon by the blood of the Lamb are obviously Christians.
When the dragon is cast down to the earth it also says
Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been cast down. Special power, and strength, and salvation will come at this special time! The women given wings like an eagle to fly, the earth helping her, God preparing a place for her where she is nourished—all are indications of great divine and angelic intervention on behalf of the woman, and in aid to her offspring; and is a counter to the surge of evil activity. As Israel was in the desert, so shall the woman be in the wilderness: God will carry her on eagle’s wings. And if need be part the waters, and send down manna from heaven!
And then again the 3 ½ years—as the woman flees from the dragon into her place where she is nourished by God for a time times and half a time, for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
At the end of the 3 ½ years it’s finished! The time of the astonishing things is for a time times and half a time…and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered all these things shall be finished! The end of the 3 ½ years is the end!
The time of the beasts authority is for 42 months, and the giving of the saints into his hands is for a time times and half a time; the time given to the gentiles to trample down the holy city, Jerusalem is also for forty-two months…after the woman’s 1260 days in the wilderness is served…where does she go on the 1261st day? What happens on the 43 month?
All the 3 ½ years prophecies are one; just as the Olivet Discourse and the last vision in the book of Daniel are one. And all have the same ending; and all end with a new beginning!
When the two witnesses, when they finish their prophesying after 1260 days are killed by the beast, the 7th and last trumpet is about to sound.
But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets. Revelation 10:7
Behold, I tell you a mystery: we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52
Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man shall appear in heaven, and then the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24:29-31
Jesus is coming again for his own. Bride of Christ, make yourself ready. Holy ones, sanctify yourselves, for the Lord will do great things among you.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives to the death.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Hab.2:3
